Glossary of Legal Terms - 3rd Edition

The Land Registration Act 2002 and the Land Registration Rules 2003 came into force on 13 October 2003. This legislation represented a comprehensive update of the law relating to registered land and introduced new technical terms and corresponding application forms - e.g. agreed and unilateral notices.  In addition, the legislation also did away with certain technical terms that had existed under the 1925 legislation - e.g. inhibitions.

The Glossary of Legal Terms published by Land Registry under its Welsh Language Scheme has proved very popular with practitioners and we have therefore taken this opportunity to prepare a third edition to incorporate the new terms introduced by the Act and Rules but have also retained the now obsolete terms because they
will still be relevant to registrations completed before 13 October 2003.

In response to feedback received in respect of the second edition of the Glossary, we have included the gender and plural forms of the Welsh nouns.
