Withdrawal of Electronic Notification of Discharge (ENDs) service from Land Registry Direct

The facility in Land Registry Direct for lenders to discharge registered charges by way of ENDs is to be withdrawn on 3 January 2010. This is being done to facilitate the decommissioning of Land Registry Direct in Spring 2010.

Affected lenders have been informed and we believe most will be signing up to the Portal, so that they can continue to discharge mortgages electronically via form e-DS1. This method of discharge is in many ways superior to ENDs, because they are processed automatically by our systems, allowing instantaneous completion of the application. ENDs always required to be completed by a separate paper application (form DS2 or DS2E).

ENDs that have been transmitted prior to 3 January will remain on our database until the paper application for discharge is received.

A list of current ENDs users is available on our website.
