Land Registry’s Annual Report and Accounts 2008/9, Creating confidence in property, tells the story of a year in which the organisation saw its core business collapse as the property slump deepened.

It shows how Land Registry responded to the immediate challenge of a shrinking workload while taking forward its plans to create a smaller, leaner, more customer-focused organisation.

Chief Executive Peter Collis calls it “probably the most difficult period in our long history”. He says that despite all the difficulties, Land Registry will play a central role in creating the confidence in property upon which a revival in the market will depend.
