On 3 August 2009 Land Registry introduced new procedures to deal with any application to remove the entries relating to a registered charge where evidence of discharge is not supplied with, or prior to, the application.

Where it is lodged together with other applications, rather than raising a requisition for evidence of discharge we will complete the other applications where possible, leaving the entries relating to the charge subsisting in the register.
Where it is the sole application, we will reject it as being substantially defective under rule 16(3), Land Registration Rules 2003 regardless of the method of discharge.
